1. How would you describe the culture at the FVL Schools?
Christ-centered
2. Why did you decide to work at a FVL school?
When I was in 4th grade, my class took a field trip to Michigan Lutheran Seminary, one of our synod's 2 high schools that have the unique focus of training future pastors and teachers. That was the day I decided to go to high school there and become a teacher in a WELS school.
3. What is the best part about working for a FVL School?
Don't get me wrong, there is a lot of work involved in teaching, but I cringe whenever I hear someone refer to teaching as work. It's not just a job, it's a privilege being able to partner with parents, the best part of which is sharing the love of Jesus and being able to teach all subjects in light of God's Word everyday.
4. Would you send your children to a FVL School? Why?
I have three of my own children in the FVL Schools system. For my husband and I, there was never a question of whether our children would be attending a WELS school. My own parents instilled the value of a Christian education in me. One of the best gifts they ever gave me was a Christian elementary and high school education.
5. Do you feel that FVL Schools can provide the same quality education as a public school?
I think the public schools in our area do a great job of preparing students for life outside of school. FVL Schools not only do an excellent job of preparing students for life here on this earth, but also for an eternity in heaven.
6. Do FVL Schools provide students with any after school activities? If yes, what are some examples?
Yes, not only are there ample sports opportunities, there are also forensic and math competitions, art fairs, spelling and geography bees, band, piano, and choir.
7. What do you want all prospective parents and students to know about FVL Schools?
That all FVL Schools have Christ as their focus, and all students and their families are seen as dearly loved children of God who have been purchased and won through Christ's blood.
