Karla Aden
Our Shepherd Lutheran School Assistant Director and Communications Coordinator.
1. How is Our Shepherd different than other daycare centers? Jesus is at the center of everything we do. Similar to a Christian Elementary School, all of our learning centers on how awesome our God is. When very young children make poor choices we can explain to them that this is sin, and that God does not like sin. We have the joy of sharing with them that Jesus died for those sins and forgives them and us, and we forgive each other.
Every member of our staff is a Christian. We all understand that God calls us to love these children as His children. He has called us to train them in His ways.
2. What age children do you care for at Our Shepherd? 6 weeks to 12 years.
3. Do the children have to belong to a church to receive care at Our Shepherd? No. When non-Christian families tour Our Shepherd we explain that we will be teaching their child about Jesus. We are thrilled when they enroll and give us that opportunity. For families that already know Jesus, we are here to help them strengthen that relationship.
4. Do you enjoy working for Our Shepherd Daycare? Why or Why not? I love my job. I am extremely blessed to be in God’s Word every day. Child development fascinates me, so every day is an adventure. Encouraging families with the peace and love of Jesus is rewarding. As an added benefit, I work for a Christian administrator who understands the importance of being present for my own family and allows our staff, including me, the flexibility to do that.
5. If you could share one thing with prospective parents of Our Shepherd, what would it be? We are a high quality child care that will nurture your child with the love of Jesus every day.
